Job Purpose:

The Q/S Site Engineer (Quantity Surveyor) is responsible for managing cost control, quantity verification, and contract administration for oilfield construction projects. This role ensures that all project expenditures and variations are accurate, transparent, and in compliance with contractual requirements.

Activities:

  • Measure and verify quantities of construction work completed on-site, ensuring accuracy against drawings, BOQs, and actual progress.
  • Review and validate contractor and subcontractor claims, variations, and change orders.
  • Prepare, check, and submit progress payment certificates, interim valuations, and detailed cost reports.
  • Assist in preparing project budgets, forecasts, and cost performance reports.
  • Monitor site productivity and assess cost performance against planned targets.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, planning, and construction teams to align work progress, costs, and materials.
  • Maintain accurate cost and contract documentation for audits, reporting, and financial compliance.
  • Conduct regular site visits to verify work execution and material usage.
  • Analyze project costs to identify variances, discrepancies, or potential savings.
  • Support the preparation of final accounts, reconciliations, and project close-out documentation.
  • Provide accurate cost and quantity data for management and client reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, contractual obligations, and cost control procedures.

Required Qualifications:

Certificate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering
  • Professional Quantity Surveyor Certification (preferred)
  • FIDIC Contract Management Training (preferred)
  • PMP Certification (advantageous)

Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience in cost control or quantity surveying in the oil and gas sector

Advanced Skills

The Q/S Site Engineer should have a solid understanding of FIDIC or equivalent contract standards and experience in cost reporting, variation analysis, and claims management. Strong analytical abilities, numerical accuracy, and attention to detail are crucial for success in this role.

Proficient Skills

The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong time management and documentation skills, work effectively within teams, and communicate clearly with project stakeholders. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, and analytical tools is also required.
